Starting a Blog

How to Blog

Is just like asking how long is a piece of string but here goes…

First question is this; ask yourself a few questions such as:

What is your blog going to based on? it could be something you love to talk about like your work, a hobby or just about anything your really passionate about.

Are you going to start a blog to make money? if not you can always consider that later.

Assuming you have now decided what your blog will be focused on then, we have to decide where it will live.

You have several options here for example; you could have a free blog at blogger.com or you could go the route which involves registering a domain name i.e. yourdomainname.com or net or org.

Next we have to find a home for our blog, I would recommend Hostgator for this simply because, they have first class support for trouble shooting any minor issues..

Once you have your domain name and host set up your ready to point your domain name to it’s new home on Hostgator. This is a simple operation though, if your a total new blogger you might find it a bit daunting..

Your next step will be to install your blog, this is also simple and can be done with a few mouse clicks from inside your host control panel…takes about 5 minutes max..

Now your all set to configure your blog, this step will be very important purely because, it sets the scene for your new blog to be indexed by the search engines..if you get this bit wrong it can take you forever to get going..remember, you know the blog is there but, apart from your partner, kids Mum & Dad and great aunt who else will know?
